It's great to hear you say that. Shining a light on these sort of connections is the whole point of this newsletter, and my Carnival project as a whole.
The Tradition has been observed for so long, and in so many places around the world, that there are all kinds of surprising links that I find fascinating - and hope others do as well.
What a great deep dive into Reggae and Punk and their links. I'm afraid I was more of a Stranglers fan but have always loved Bob Marley and saw his son Ziggy perform at Reggae Sunsplash in Montego Bay, ages ago. An incredible night of music, Red Stripe and Curried Goat, as I recall!
So glad you enjoyed it -- I had fun doing the "research" 😉
Red Stripe & Reggae Sunsplash sounds glorious! But I've never acquired a taste for goat. I tried it many times, in Caribbean, Mexican, & South Asian recipes, before concluding I'm just not that into it.🐐
Pukny Reggae Party is a good song. I had not appreciated it fully. I think I had heard it before, but I was not fully aware of the circumstances.

What a great read. It had simply never occurred to me that there'd be a link between these things.
Glad you liked it!
